Lions Clubs International NEWSWIRE
Lions Club Iinternational Foundation
Holsworthy Lions Club is just one of sixty four other clubs in District 105SW and is one of the most active clubs in the region. We currently have 16 members and we are all volunteers, ordinary people from a mix of backgrounds who use our individual skills, collectively, to help anyone less fortunate than ourselves. The club proudly serves the local community by raising funds from a variety of events held throughout the year. We try to put the fun into fundraising at all of our events, so please help us achieve our aims by supporting us in any way you can.
The Holsworthy Lions annual Speed Pool Competition took place on the evening of Thursday 11th April, in eight separate venues, in and around Holsworthy.
The object of the game is for teams of six players to play in strict rotation and to pocket as many balls as they can in one hour, as well as, most importantly, raise as much sponsorship as they can.
This year's highest scoring team was the The Shed with an amazing 515 balls pocketed, they also had the highest scoring individual with 105 balls.
Although the sport is highly competitive, the Lions Club is always most grateful for the sponsor monies raised. This years winner of 'the most sponsorship raised' trophy is the team from The Holsworthy Social Club, a staggering £517!
Our thanks go to all of the supporting venues and their teams who took part.
The Old Market Inn, Holsworthy; The White Hart, Holsworthy; Holsworthy Social Club; RBL Magpie Club, Holsworthy; Bradworthy Social Club; The Bridge Inn, Bridgrule; The Shed, Holsworthy; and previous winners of most sponsorship, The Village Inn, Ashwater;
Membership of a Lions club is both challenging and rewarding. If you feel you could add something to our club, then come and join us at one of our social meetings at the White Hart, Holsworthy, on the 3rd Thursday of the month and you too could be doing some amazing things.

We raise money by holding a variety of events throughout the year. Some are organised in aid of specific causes but many others raise funds that are used to provide aid to local groups, charities or individuals who request our help. These are just some of a long list of beneficiaries helped by our fund raising.
